Forgotten Aadhaar UID/EID, Retrieve it Online
Visit the UIDAI official website for the retrieval of your Aadhaar number. Check out these steps below to know how it is done -
- When you are on the UIDAI portal, click on the ‘Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’. You will find this button under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
- Choose whether you want to retrieve your EID or Aadhaar number. Once you select the same, proceed with the next step.
- Enter your personal details such as name, mobile and email address, and captcha
- Now, click on the ‘Send OTP’ button. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Check whether you receive the same.
- Enter the received OTP. After that, the Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID will be sent to your registered mobile number or email ID.
This is how you can get your Aadhaar or EID back if you lost or forgotten the same. You can use this online process anytime as the portal is open 24x7.
Retrieve Lost or Forgotten Aadhaar UID/EID Using the mAadhaar App
You can find the mAadhaar App on the play store or apple store of your android or IOS smartphone. If you couldn’t find the app, visit the portal and get the app link. Open the app and follow the steps shown below to retrieve UID/EID using the UIDAI app:
- Log in to the mAadhaar app and press the ‘Retrieve EID/UID’ button
- Choose what you want to retrieve your Aadhaar number (UID) or Enrolment Number (EID)
- Provide your name, mobile, email and enter the captcha code and double tap on the ‘Request OTP’ button
- Enter the OTP you have received on your registered mobile number
If you have not registered your mobile number or email ID with your Aadhaar Card, you are required to visit the nearest Permanent Enrolment Center for the retrieval of UID/EID.

Locate the nearest Permanent Enrolment Center online and follow the below instructions -
- Visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra nearest you
- Provide demographic and biometric details
- Post verification, you can know your UID/EID and even download your Aadhaar card at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra at just INR 30 fees.
After the retrieval of the UID/EID, log in and check your Aadhaar Card Status to see all the details are up to date.
