Link Aadhaar to IRCTC Account
You can now use the IRCTC portal to book train tickets online. An individual can book a maximum of 6 train tickets every month. However, if you link your Aadhaar card with your IRCTC account and can book up to 12 tickets every month. However, in order to avail this facility, at least one passenger in the passenger’s list must verify the details using his Aadhaar card. Once you link your Aadhaar card to your IRCTC account it becomes very easy for you to book train tickets using the online IRCTC portal.
Link Aadhaar with IRCTC Account Online
It is very simple and easy to link your Aadhaar card with your IRCTC account online. The process to link your Aadhaar number with IRCTC account is as follows:
- Login to your IRCTC account using your “User ID” and “Password”
- From the “My Account” section select the “Link Your Aadhaar” option
- Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
- Check the disclaimer and click on “Send OTP”
- Enter the OTP that you will receive on your registered mobile number
- Your details will be displayed on the screen, Tick on the disclaimer and click on the “Update” button
By following the above steps, your IRCTC account will be successfully linked with your Aadhaar.
Adding Aadhaar Number of a Passenger
You need to add the passenger details into the master list before booking a ticket online, in order to verify the Aadhaar number of a passenger. You can follow the steps mentioned below to add a passenger in the master list and verify the details using the Aadhaar number:
- Using your user ID and password, login to your IRCTC account.
- Select “Master List” option under “My profile”
- Enter details like your name, DOB, gender, preference for train berth, senior citizen concessions, food preferences, etc.
- Select “Aadhaar card” in ID Card Type
- Enter your Aadhaar number in the ID Card Number box and click on “Submit” button
- The details of the passenger will be added in the Master List.
- The status will show verification “Pending”. The status shows “Verified” once the details are verified through Aadhaar
- The verification status column will display “Not verified”, in case Aadhaar verification is not done
- Users can edit their details and mention their Aadhaar for verification and click on “Update” for all “Not Verified” details
How to Book Tickets using the Aadhaar Verified Master List
You can now directly book your train tickets from the IRCTC portal by selecting the passenger details from the master list. By doing so, you will not have to enter the passenger details every time you try to book a ticket. The process of selecting Aadhaar verified passengers from the master list is as follows:
- Head over to the official IRCTC portal
- Enter your travelling details and search for trains
- Select the train, class and other details and click on the “Book Now” option
- From the passengers already saved in the master list, tick on the passenger details that you want to select
- Click on the “Select passengers” option
- Your details will be added directly in the booking window
- You can now proceed with the payment option for booking the ticket.
