Identity Proofs or Documents Needed for Aadhaar Card
Here is the list of new Aadhaar card documents that are required for the application -

- Government-issued photo identification cards or service photo ID cards provided by a public sector undertaking (PSU).

- Certificate of Date of Birth which Group A Gazetted Officer issues on letterhead
- A certificate or ID Card having a photo and DOB duly signed and issued by a Government authority.
- Photo ID card having a DOB, issued by a recognized Educational Institution
- A marksheet that has been issued by a university or government board
- PSU-issued identification card with the date of birth on it, a government photo ID card, or a photo identity proof

- Passport of the applicant
- Any document pertaining to family benefits provided by the federal or state governments.

Aadhaar Card Documents Required for Children Below 5 Years
Your child is exempt from the biometric verification process if you are applying for an Aadhaar Card for them before they turn five. Either the father or mother should submit his or her Aadhaar as a document for an Aadhaar card for his child. You will need to submit the following proofs:-

DOB (Date of Birth) Document
- Indian Passport
- Regulatory Bodies, Assistance Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), State Governments, the Federal Government, or Statutory Bodies all issue photo identification cards.
- Pensioner Photo Identity Card, Freedom Fighter Photo Identity Card, or Pension Payment Order issued by the Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Regulatory Bodies, or Statutory Bodies.
- Marksheet or Certificate issued by a recognized Board of Education or University.
- Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of 2019: Transgender Identity Card or Certificate
- Birth certificates issued in accordance with the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, and the Registration of Births and Deaths Rules 1999/2000/2002 of the corresponding states by the authorised authorities in those states.
NOTE: It is important to note that applying for a new Aadhaar card is entirely voluntary and not mandatory. Additionally, failure to submit all the required documents grants UIDAI the authority to revoke the issuance of the Aadhaar card at its discretion.
Documents Required for OCI Cardholders, LTV Document Holders, Nepal & Bhutan Nationals, and Other Resident Foreigners
The following documents are required for Aadhaar Card applications for OCI cardholders, LTV document holders, Nepal & Bhutan nationals, and other resident foreigners:
For OCI Cardholders:
- Valid OCI card along with a valid foreign passport for residents who have stayed in India for at least 182 days in the last year. This serves as acceptable ID proof.
For Long Term Visa (LTV) Document Holders:
- Identity and address proof in the form of a valid LTV document and a valid or expired foreign passport issued by the origin country for minority communities (Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Christians) from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
For Nepal and Bhutan Nationals:
Passport of Nepal/Bhutan : A valid passport issued by Nepal or Bhutan is acceptable as ID proof.
- If a passport is unavailable, any two of the following documents with the same address can be submitted:
- Nepalese/Bhutanese Citizenship Certificate
- Voter Identity Card issued by the Election Commission of Bhutan or Nepal
- Limited applicability The Nepalese Mission or Royal Bhutanese Mission in India issued the photo identity certificate.
For Other Resident Foreigners:
- A valid visa and valid foreign passport of resident foreigners who have stayed in India for at least 182 days in the last year is acceptable as ID proof.
- Alternatively, a valid Registration Certificate or Residential Permit issued by the FRRO/FRO to resident foreigners (except OCI cardholders, LTV document holders, and Nepal/Bhutan nationals) is acceptable as address proof.
