Online Steps for the Aadhaar Card Update or Correction
You can update or change the demographic details of your Aadhaar card online from anywhere at any time through the official UIDAI portal. However, to do the same, ensure your mobile number is linked with your Aadhaar card.
What to Update Online?
According to the UIDAI's latest reports, you can get your name, date of birth, address, gender and language changed or updated online. Also, change or update your mobile number in your Aadhar card online by visiting the Indian Postal Service website. Check out the steps below -
- Visit the Aadhaar Portal on your smartphone or tablet
- Click on “Login”, now a new window will open
- Enter a 12-digit Aadhaar number, and captcha code and click on the “Send OTP” button
- Enter the OTP that UIDAI has sent to your registered mobile number
- Under the services option, click on the “Update Aadhaar Online” button. To update your name, gender, date of birth, address, and language written on your Aadhaar card. Select the one you wish to update.
- Click on the “Proceed to Update Aadhaar” button
- Now you check the current details. Enter the details that you want to update or change. After that, upload scanned copies of the supporting documents.
- Check the preview of your newly added details and pay INR 50 (non-refundable) update fee using debit, credit card, or net banking.
Do You Prefer Offline Mode for the Aadhaar Card Update or Correction?
Some people are not good at using the internet, so they can update Aadhaar card details offline. For this, visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Biometrics data can only be updated or changed at the Aadhaar Enrolment Center. You can also update/change your mobile number and email id offline. - Fill in the Aadhaar correction form and ensure your entered information is correct and not the same as it is mentioned in your Aadhaar.
- Get self-attested copies of supporting documents to update the details
- Pay a fee for every visit to the Enrolment Center for updates or correction
- Get all your details updated at the center, even your biometric data, image, mobile number, etc.
Important Notes
- You should know there is a limit on the number of times you can make an update or correction
- Only minor changes in name are allowed online
- After payment, an Update Request Number (URN) is generated by which you check the Aadhaar Card Status.
- The update will take up to 90 days to complete
- Once details are updated, you can download the updated version of your Aadhar card
- You can also visit various banks for Aadhaar card updates. An example of this is the Axis Bank where you can get an Aadhar card update.
- The charges for the Aadhaar Update are INR 100 for biometrics update and INR 50 for demographic details
- Supporting documents may contain Driving license, Bank ATM Card, legally approved name change certificate, statement of bank or any other government-issued Photo identity card.
