You can lock your biometrics and prevent them from being misused. If you need your biometrics for any type of verification then you can unlock it and it will be unlocked for 10 minutes after which it will get locked automatically. So, you can use your biometrics for any type of verification by unlocking it and it will get locked again, once the verification has been done.

Adhaar Lock Or Unlock

When you lock your Aadhaar Number, you will no longer be able to use it for authentication. However, you can still perform authentication securely using the Virtual ID (VID) associated with your Aadhaar.

Steps to Lock/Unlock Your Aadhaar

Step 1: Before locking or unlocking your Aadhaar, generate a 16-digit Virtual ID (VID). You can do this via:

With this service, you can view up to the last 50 authentication transactions performed using your Aadhaar number. Follow these steps to access the details:

1. Enter your captcha code with your Aadhaar number.

2. Provide the following inputs:

• Authentication Type: Choose from demographics, biometrics, OTP, Demographic & OTP, biometric & OTP, or ALL.
• Date Range: Specify the start and end dates for the record search.

• Number of Records: Note that a maximum of 50 records can be displayed.

3. Please enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to complete the verification process.

The details provided include the organization that used your Aadhaar, the date and time of authentication, the type of authentication, and more. You can also download the authentication history as a PDF file for your records.

Check the Aadhaar and Bank Account Linking Status

This service allows you to check the status of your Aadhaar and bank account linkage. When accessed, UIDAI retrieves your bank linking details from the NPCI server.
