Aadhaar Card Not Received Yet - What to Do?
Last Updated : Jan. 4, 2025, 3:13 p.m.
If you've applied for an Aadhaar Card, it typically takes up to three months to arrive. However, there are instances where it might not reach you within this period. If you haven’t received your Aadhaar card yet, don’t worry; you can obtain it both online and offline, provided it has been generated. To confirm whether your Aadhaar has been generated, check your Aadhaar card status online.
If you find that your Aadhaar card has not been issued due to reasons such as an application rejection by UIDAI or if you applied before 1st April 2012, you may need to reapply. If your Aadhaar has been generated but not received, here’s how you can access it either online or offline. Let’s explore these options to help you secure your Aadhaar card.
Download Aadhaar Card Online Through the Website
If your Aadhaar card is not received by the post, you can still access it online. Here are the steps to download your Aadhaar card online.
Open the official website of E-Aadhaar UIDAI on your PC or Laptop.
Choose the ‘Download Aadhaar’ option.
Enter your Aadhaar Number or VID or Enrolment ID as per the information you have with you.
Then enter the Security Code as displayed in the tabs.
Now click on the Send OTP button to get an OTP on your registered mobile number or email ID.
Enter the OTP in the box for verification.
Then click on the Download Aadhaar Button to download your e-Aadhaar.
- You will get the Aadhaar in a PDF form and enter the password to open the PDF file.
Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the PDF file on your PC or Laptop. To access the e-Aadhaar PDF, use the first four letters of your name in uppercase and your year of birth as the password. You can print the document for use as needed, but first, make sure to verify its digital signature.
Download Aadhaar Via Mobile Application
Once your Aadhaar is issued, you can store it on your mobile using the mAadhaar app. This app keeps your Aadhaar details like your name, date of birth, gender, address, photo, and biometrics. With the mAadhaar app, there's no need to carry your physical Aadhaar card everywhere. The app also makes it easy to share your KYC and QR code with service providers. The app is available on both Google Play Store and App Store.
To download the mAadhaar app, you'll need your Aadhaar number or the QR code found on your Aadhaar card. If you haven't received your Aadhaar card yet, you can get your Aadhaar number via SMS. Here’s how to do it:
Enter the 28-digit enrollment number from your acknowledgment slip, your registered mobile number, and the security code shown on the form.
Click the "Send One Time Password" button.
Enter the OTP received on your registered number and click the "Submit" button.
After verification, your Aadhaar details will be sent to your mobile phone via SMS.
Download Aadhaar Card Using the Offline Method
If you prefer the offline method or find it more convenient, you can get your Aadhaar card by visiting an Aadhaar enrolment center. Just follow these steps:
Locate a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre either through the UIDAI website or by calling the UIDAI helpline.
Go to the enrollment center and pick up a physical form.
Fill in the form carefully and completely.
Hand in your completed form and the necessary documents to the staff at the center.
Go through the verification process for your personal details and biometrics.
After your information is verified, your Aadhaar card will be created and mailed to your home address.
